Smile

Here are a few moments in the last week that have made me smile. I hope you find yours? Are they a lot like mine ?

This weekend we discovered either frogs still in their tail phase with legs or a newt in our little pond (bathtub) it's probably a frog ....I just like saying newt! I've loved turning the garden with Mr C into a beautiful hideaway, shrouded by tall trees and large ferns. We've worked very hard on it and it's finally paid off!

I can't get enough of these beauties, they have taken over each setting I walk or cycle along, is this Cow Parsley or Spreading Hedge Parsley, next time I walk in them I'll take a closer look  at the leaves! and use the book I mentioned last time

Oh sunshine, you came back! I love dancing with my shadow (ahem, I know I'm not the only one)

Now this! is bliss! Grass between the toes, I wait months to enjoy this moment and you know what? It's well worth the wait!

.....and then there was sunshine

The last few weekends have been utter bliss. Trips to Greenwich Park, cycles along the River Ravensbourne which is literally on our doorstep and today spent in the garden clearing away miles of ivy and creating a small haven.

I've also taken to waking between 5-6 in the morning to be at the desk and watch the sky change. Writing is rather magical in those silent, peaceful hours. I think I like writing in my little room whilst the husband still sleeps, but he has to go to work obviously so I try to cram in more time.

Oooh I'm tired, but a very satisfying kind of tired. I'm slowly awakening although I have an annoying bout of anaemia at play, I just love having created more hours in the day! I've always wanted to do it, especially when the likes of the wonderful Johanna Harness does it with her @amrwriting awakenings on twitter at 5:30 or earlier sometimes.

And so; writing, gardening, yoga and expending energy in positivity, what else can one do?

Henry Moore statue has returned, no doubt because of the Olympics, it's called "Large Standing Figure: Knife Edge"  but when I look at it, I keep singing Leonard Cohen's 'Dance Me to the End of Love'!

I fell into a world of blossom at this point, and yes, I do like to take pictures of other people's dogs!

....and my feet, well, you know me by now! like here , here, here, yup ,yup , still more-one of my faves, and more!

They all look like they're plotting here

Good morning

I've been at my desk since 5 this morning, enjoying the sky as it changes, this may be the only hint of sun today for it seemed to fade too fast yesterday. I was glad to catch it today, anyway, back to work! Have a lovely day.

Warming up

Time at the desk has opened up like a satisfying large yawn and this morning's brain warm up looks a little like this ;

Extract from intro to Woolgathering by Patti Smith

"Someone asked if I would consider Woolgathering a fairy tale. I have always adored such tales but I am afraid it does not qualify. Everything contained in this little book is true, and written just like it was. The writing of it drew me from my strange torpor and I hope that in some measure it will fill the reader with a vague and curious joy."

Grateful

Where in the world have I been? Mainly in the hospital with my mum who became awfully ill all of a sudden and spent an entire month as an inpatient, to an outpatient to an inpatient again. She is now home, getting well but not quite out of the woods yet.

Life took on a somewhat surrealistic form, in which we all walked on surfaces that seemed to rise up at us head on then drop suddenly when it appeared flat. It's safe to say that we took on a "don't assume anything" mentality and took each bump, climb and plummet one at a time.

Writing hasn't been central as one can imagine, but always on my mind, usually in a moment before I fell asleep and upon rising, but pushed back once more. But now, I have those electric tingles in my fingers which are itching for pen and paper, and I've started to slowly ignite those muscles; the ones in the brain, the heart and fingers.

I've been lucky to have incredible support network in the last few months, you all know who you are, once more. I thank you, as does my mother.

Here are a few pics from the last two months, I'll let them tell you a little story.
